Layover tours from Sabiha Gökçen (SAW)
Sabiha Gökçen is on the Asian side, and that decides everything. Kadıköy is about 40 min away; the Old City is 1h 30 across the bridge, each way. So on a short SAW layover we never send you to Sultanahmet — you would spend the day in a car. Kadıköy, Moda and the ferry are the default at every length; the Old City is offered only from 10 hours.
Kadıköy, Moda and the ferry
With 2h 25 in town at 7 hours (and 3h 25 at 8), you walk Kadıköy's food market — fish, pickles, cheese, spice, the pastry counters — then down to the Moda shoreline for the Bosphorus and the Old City skyline across the water. If time allows, a ferry across and back gives you the city from the sea. Üsküdar and Çamlıca Mosque are the other Asian-side options when you would rather see mosques than markets.
The Old City from SAW — 10 hours or more
From ten hours (3h 45 in the city after the 1h 30 transfers) the Old City becomes possible from SAW. Below that we will steer you to Kadıköy and explain why.
Food
Kadıköy is a food district, so the break is part of the walk — chosen on the day, at your own cost, no fixed restaurant. Sunday mornings the market is quieter; in winter the ferries run less often and we plan the shoreline around the timetable.

Where we meet and where we return you
Driver with a name sign at SAW international arrivals; your guide joins in Kadıköy. Back at SAW departures 2h 30 before your flight.
Don't book this if…
- Your connection is under 7 hours.
- You insist on Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque with less than 10 hours — from SAW that is a car ride, not a tour.
- You are travelling with large checked bags you must collect — SAW's margins are tighter than IST's.
Turkish Airlines' free Touristanbul tour — how is this different?
Touristanbul is Turkish Airlines' free group tour for passengers connecting through Istanbul Airport on a single Turkish Airlines ticket. It is a good programme. Ours is different in five ways: it is private to your party; you choose the route; there is no fixed departure slot to match; your guide is licensed and speaks your language; and if your inbound flight is late we re-plan around the hours you still have instead of leaving without you. If you qualify for Touristanbul and its slot matches your flights, take it — we will say so.
Kadıköy market is quieter on Sunday mornings, and the ferries thin out in winter — we plan the shoreline walk around the timetable on the day.

Frequently asked questions
Can I see the Old City on a layover at Sabiha Gökçen?
Only from about 10 hours. Below that the 1h 30 transfer each way leaves too little time; Kadıköy is the right choice.
What is the minimum layover for a tour from SAW?
7 hours, routed to Kadıköy (40 min each way).
Is Kadıköy worth it compared with the Old City?
Different, not lesser: it is where Istanbul shops and eats, with the Old City skyline across the water. Many guests prefer it.
