The Food Market

Kadıköy's daily food market on Güneşlibahçe Sokak is one of the best in Istanbul. Stalls overflow with fresh produce, local cheeses, olives in every variety, dried fruits, spices, and homemade mantı (Turkish dumplings). The fish market section is spectacular — gleaming displays of the day's catch from the Marmara Sea and the Bosphorus. For Gulf visitors, the market is a sensory feast and a chance to taste authentic Turkish ingredients.

Moda Waterfront

The Moda neighborhood within Kadıköy features a beautiful waterfront promenade. Walking along the shore, you get stunning views of the Istanbul skyline across the water — the minarets of Sultanahmet, the Galata Tower, and the Bosphorus Bridge. It's especially beautiful at sunset. The waterfront is lined with tea gardens and cafés where locals spend lazy afternoons.

How to Get There

The ferry from Eminönü to Kadıköy is one of Istanbul's great experiences. The 20-minute crossing takes you past the Maiden's Tower, under the Bosphorus Bridge, and offers panoramic views of both the European and Asian skylines. Ferries run every 15-20 minutes and cost just a few lira. The Marmaray metro also connects the European and Asian sides in about 10 minutes.

Arrive in the morning for the best market experience. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Try the stuffed mussels (midye dolma) from street vendors and the fresh-squeezed orange juice. The neighborhood is very safe and family-friendly.
