Rumeli Fortress (Rumeli Hisarı) — Built by Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror in just four months in 1452, as preparation for the siege of Constantinople. This massive fortress controlled the narrowest point of the Bosphorus.

Anadolu Fortress — On the Asian shore opposite Rumeli Fortress, this smaller fortification completed the Ottoman control of the strait.

The Yalıs — Historic wooden waterfront mansions lining both shores. Some date back centuries and are among the most expensive residential properties in the world. Spotting these painted beauties from the water is a highlight of any cruise.
